Über diese Stufe
Seeglasgrün – blass, kühl, weit entfernt von Smaragd – füllt den Fluorit dieser Platte aus Xianghualing. Die Kristalle sammeln sich in zwei lockeren Gruppen, einer oberen und einer unteren, ihre Flächen gestuft und sanft angeätzt statt spiegelblank, und schlanke farblose Quarzprismen stehen dazwischen wie ein Lattenzaun. Das Ganze ist in eine hellbraune drusige Quarzkruste gebettet, die sich über die Plattenkanten legt.
Xianghualing im Süden Hunans ist Zinnland, und sein Fluorit tritt in diesen ruhigen Grüntönen zutage statt in den gesättigten Violetttönen, für die die Provinz bekannter ist. Grün im Fluorit (CaF2) hat nichts mit Kupfer zu tun; es stammt von Farbzentren und Spuren von Seltenerd-Einbau, die während des Wachstums im kubischen Gitter eingeschlossen wurden. Mohshärte 4 mit vollkommener oktaedrischer Spaltbarkeit – schon gleichmäßiger Daumendruck auf eine freiliegende Ecke kann eine Spaltschuppe auslösen, heben Sie das Stück daher an der Matrix an.
Flachrückig und für die Präsentation mit der Schauseite nach oben gebaut, misst die Platte 5,8 × 5,1 × 2,3 cm und wiegt 55 g. Jede Aufnahme hier entstand von dieser Platte selbst.
