Le facce di questa fluorite verde primavera del Fujian salgono in fini gradini paralleli, e ogni spigolo cattura la luce come una sottile linea brillante, così che la superficie appare brinata mentre il corpo sottostante resta abbastanza traslucido da accendersi di un bagliore caldo quando si tiene un dito dietro di esso.
La brina non è polvere ma una generazione successiva di minutissimi cristalli di quarzo cresciuti sulla fluorite una volta che la sua crescita si era arrestata, l'abito che dà a questi pezzi del Fujian la loro pelle zuccherata, scintillante da vicino e sfumata dall'altro capo di una stanza. La fluorite (CaF2) ha durezza 4 Mohs con sfaldatura perfetta in quattro direzioni, perciò il rischio non è mai il graffio ma la spaccatura: la tenga al riparo dagli urti e dagli sbalzi improvvisi di temperatura e le facce a gradini resteranno nitide.
Pezzo da una mano con 5,8 × 2,8 × 2,0 cm e 55 g, nelle fotografie è tenuto fra le dita come riferimento di scala anziché posato su una base. Ciò che appare nelle immagini è ciò che riceverà.
