Il cristallo principale è un’ampia fluorite azzurro ghiaccio in cui ogni faccia è cresciuta in terrazze piatte, gradino su gradino, finché la superficie non si legge come una carta a curve di livello in rilievo. Il colore si raccoglie in lavanda lungo il bordo superiore e si assottiglia quasi fino all’acqua nella parte centrale, mentre un basso collare di druse bianco crema corre lungo la base con altri due piccoli cubi azzurri appollaiati sopra.
Facce a scalinata di questo tipo si formano quando la crescita supera l’apporto di calcio e fluoro: ogni nuovo strato si arresta prima di quello sottostante e lascia una terrazza dove altrimenti ci sarebbe una faccia piana. Yaogangxian produce una buona quantità di fluorite azzurra e lavanda, e in questo esemplare la terrazzatura è insolitamente nitida. Durezza Mohs 4, quindi la tenga lontana da esemplari più duri quando la ripone in un cassetto.
