About this specimen
A block of stepped fluorite cubes is completely wrapped in a bright orange, sparkling coating of jarosite, so every face and edge glitters like rust-orange sugar. The underlying cube geometry still shows through the crust.
The coating is identified as jarosite, an iron sulfate that formed as the ore oxidised; fully coated fluorite from Guizhou is an unusual look and reads as a vivid orange from across the room.
At 6.6 × 4.3 × 3 cm (2.60 × 1.69 × 1.18 in) and 96 g (3.4 oz) it is a small cabinet specimen that displays well on a shelf or in a cabinet. Sold exactly as photographed; any known repair, mount, treatment or condition note is disclosed in this listing.
