Questo esemplare di Xianghualing sta tutto in un cubo celadon. Si erge dalla matrice chiara ricoperta di drusa, con le facce costruite da fini terrazze a gradini e l’interno di un verde nebbioso che si raccoglie verso il centro e si assottiglia fino a quasi incolore negli angoli. Dietro e accanto, cubi più piccoli verde-azzurro e qualche cristallo rosato restano bassi sulla roccia.
La fluorite è fluoruro di calcio, CaF2, e con durezza 4 Mohs è tenera abbastanza da lasciarsi graffiare da una lama d’acciaio. Si sfalda inoltre perfettamente lungo i piani ottaedrici, ed è per questo che un urto stacca un angolo del cubo invece di scheggiarne la faccia: porti questo pezzo tenendolo per la matrice, mai per il cristallo. Le facce a terrazze registrano una crescita che si è arrestata e riavviata, strato su strato, anziché chiudersi in un piano liscio.
Il pezzo si sviluppa su 10,2 × 4,6 × 3,8 cm per 180 g di peso. Viene fotografato senza montatura, nello stato preciso in cui le sarà consegnato.
