Una placca verticale porta decine di piccoli cubi il cui colore va dall'acqua limpida al champagne pallido, con una manciata che conserva un tenue nucleo grigio fumo. Sono impilati faccia contro faccia e all'incirca paralleli, così il fronte dell'esemplare spezza la luce in moltissimi quadratini insieme invece di lampeggiare da un'unica grande faccia. Dietro, la matrice è chiara e friabile, con una striscia color ruggine lungo il bordo destro.
Un'impilatura cubo su cubo di questo tipo registra una storia di crescita fatta di soste e ripartenze: ogni pausa lascia una faccia, ogni ripresa nuclea un cubo nuovo sopra il precedente, e i fantasmi più pallidi visibili dentro alcuni cristalli segnano quei confini. La fluorite ha durezza 4 Mohs e si sfalda nettamente sui piani ottaedrici: una benedizione per chi lavora le pietre, una seccatura per chi colleziona, perché basta una breve caduta per perdere un angolo.
La placca è alta 4,8 cm su una base di appoggio di 2,5 × 2,5 cm e pesa 45 g. È fissata con mastice a un blocco di acrilico trasparente, incluso. In tutta questa scheda compare una sola placca, ed è quella che viene spedita.
