Jiangxi red hematoid quartz with dolomite at 24 × 7 × 21 cm and 2058 g including the stand; a large cabinet display piece. A broad fan of quartz points coated in a red iron skin over white dolomite, the red hematoid quartz the supplier names, mounted on a carved wooden stand.
The red comes from included hematite, and the effect is strongest where the crystals are thinnest.
Dolomite's slightly curved rhombohedral faces separate it at a glance from calcite.
Jiangxi's tungsten mines, Xihuashan and Piaotang among them, are the classic source of wolframite, scheelite, baryte, fluorite and calcite specimens.
Dimensions place it in the large cabinet range, 24 × 7 × 21 cm (9.45 × 2.76 × 8.27 in) and 2058 g (72.6 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.
