Yunxiao, Fujian, helvine on quartz-feldspar at 31 g; a miniature for the species collector.
Helvine forms yellow to brown tetrahedra; it is uncommon, and the Chinese skarn material is among the best available.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three. Zeolites are framework silicates that line volcanic cavities with radiating and bladed white crystals.
The pegmatites of Yunxiao County, Fujian, are the source of the orange spessartine-smoky quartz combinations that reached the market after 2010.
By size it is miniature, 4.2 × 3.3 × 2.4 cm (1.65 × 1.30 × 0.94 in) and 31 g (1.1 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
