Over dit exemplaar
Sichuan double-terminated garden quartz with epidote at 3.2 cm and 14.5 g; a miniature. A double-terminated quartz crystal with a dark green epidote cluster attached at one side, the garden quartz the supplier names.
The inclusions in garden quartz are frozen mid-growth, which is why every crystal reads as a small, unrepeatable scene.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three. Epidote forms pistachio-green prismatic crystals, often striated, and is a classic companion of quartz and feldspar in Chinese skarn deposits.
Sichuan hosts Xuebaoding, Jinkouhe and Leshan, sources of aquamarine, scheelite, prehnite, gypsum and the epidote-quartz skarn specimens seen here.
By size it is miniature, 2.3 × 2.4 × 3.2 cm (0.91 × 0.94 × 1.26 in) and 14.5 g (0.5 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
