Een stuk uit Binnen-Mongolië met bleek tafelvormig, bloemachtig calciet in associatie met kwarts op matrix. De getrapte vlakken en gelaagde habitus doen sterk denken aan bloemcalciet, maar de precieze mijn vraagt om bevestiging.

Over dit exemplaar
Rechtsonder op dit stuk opent zich een roos van crèmewitte calcietplaatjes, blad op blad gestapeld als de opengewaaierde bladzijden van een boek. Alles eromheen is houtskooldonker gesteente, bedekt met een dichte rijp van kleine kleurloze kristallen, zodat het geheel leest als één warme, zachte bloem op een veld van schittering. Hoog op de rechterrand zit een tweede, kleinere groep witte blaadjes.
De getrapte, gelaagde habitus komt overeen met het materiaal dat vanuit Binnen-Mongolië als bloemcalciet wordt verhandeld, al is de precieze mijn voor dit stuk niet bevestigd en zeggen wij dat liever dan te gokken. Calciet heeft hardheid 3 en splijt in drie romboëdrische richtingen; het bruist bovendien in verdund zuur, dus houd huishoudmiddelen en ultrasoonbaden ver weg en stof het af met een zachte kwast.
De plaat meet 5,5 × 5,0 × 4,0 cm en weegt 100 g, en er wordt geen standaard meegeleverd. De fotografie is op het exemplaar zelf gedaan, in de hand, zonder dat er iets is verwisseld.
