Over dit exemplaar
Het fluoriet is hier nauwelijks gekleurd – bleek groengrijs en waterig, meer venster dan edelsteen – en het groeit als een trap van kubussen, elk vlak verspringend ten opzichte van het vorige in vlakke, evenwijdige treden. Waar de kristallen het gesteente raken, is donkergroen chloriet erin ingesloten geraakt en over de matrix eronder uitgestrooid, en op de rechterrand zit een kleine groep roomroze carbonaatkristallen.
Dat chloriet is typerend voor Yaogangxian: fluoriet uit de mijn groeide er vaak samen met het groene, glimmerachtige mineraal, dat de matrix bekleedt en als zachte inwendige wolken in de kristallen doordringt. Fluoriet is CaF2, Mohs 4, met een perfecte splijting volgens octaëdervlakken; de scherpe kubushoeken van zo'n stuk zijn dan ook het eerste wat een onvoorzichtige plank eraf stoot.
Compact met 5,6 × 3,8 × 4,3 cm en 74 g, rechtop getoond op een heldere acrylsokkel die de kubussen op ooghoogte houdt. Op de foto's staat precies deze groep.
