Over dit exemplaar
De vanadiniet leest hier bijna zwart tot het licht haar vindt, en dan gloeien de kristalribben diep bruinrood op, de kleur van donker kersenglas. Tientallen korte hexagonale prisma's bezetten de donkere matrix, elk afgesloten door een vlak basisvlak, de meeste scherp gekant en gedrongen in plaats van naaldvormig. De grootste individuen halen enkele millimeters in doorsnede en liggen in losse rijen in plaats van in één dicht tapijt.
Vanadiniet is een loodchloorvanadaat, Pb5(VO4)3Cl, hexagonaal, gevormd in de oxidatiezone boven loodafzettingen waar vanadiumhoudende oplossingen op verwerend galeniet inwerken. De gedrongen habitus van prisma met vlakke kap is kenmerkend voor het district Mibladen. De glans is harsachtig tot diamantachtig in plaats van metaalachtig, het krast gemakkelijk bij hardheid 3 volgens Mohs, en omdat het een loodmineraal is, is het verstandig achteraf uw handen te wassen.
3,6 × 2,0 × 3,0 cm en 34 g, gemonteerd op het bleke acrylblokje dat op de foto's te zien is. Thumbnail-formaat, en beter onder een bureaulamp dan van de andere kant van de kamer. Het afgebeelde stuk is het stuk dat wordt opgestuurd.
