深宝蓝色的蓝铜矿以糖粒般细密的结壳铺展在这件标本上，任何角度都能反射出点点闪光，而在阴影凹褶处则暗沉近黑。 绿色的纤维状簇丛——孔雀石，也可能是矽孔雀石——沿着棱脊生长，并深入右侧一处开放晶洞，一道赭褐色的铁氧化物细脉正横切过蓝色区域。
蓝铜矿与孔雀石同属碱式碳酸铜，绿色往往是蓝色的后继者：蓝铜矿在漫长的地质时间里吸收水分而转变为孔雀石，因此这样一件标本正好捕捉到反应进行到一半的瞬间。 两者都很软，摩氏硬度 3.5–4，而蓝铜矿最好避免长时间直晒。 本件产地尚未确认，绿色矿种也未经检测，因此我们将两者都如实列为未解的问题，而不加以臆测。
