辉铋矿是硫化铋 Bi2S3，属斜方晶系，莫氏硬度 2，比指甲还软。 在这种针状形态下，这份柔软对收藏者而言就是全部关键：毛刷、指尖或一次随手的包装，都会让针晶弯折或断裂，而且不会再长回来。 请置于防尘罩下或密闭展示柜中，移动时只碰母岩，并且永远不要为它除尘。
