粗短的乳白色方解石柱状晶体自一个共同中心向外簇拥，直到整簇读来像一小丘压实的积雪。 晶面在迎光处呈玻璃光泽，其下却略显混浊，而几乎每一个晶面上都散布着不大于针头的深绿色斑点——足以让视线在一件原本通体一色的标本上持续游移。 一楔淡褐色的围岩仍横跨在下方的晶体之间，是这件标本所生长的那个晶洞留下的最后痕迹。
方解石（CaCO3）莫氏硬度 3，质地偏软，并在三个方向上具完美解理，因此一记石英晶体耸耸肩就能扛过的碰撞，在这里却可能自晶面剪下一道干净明亮的阶梯。 请托住底部而非晶尖拿取，让它远离食醋、可乐以及任何其他酸性物质，并以干刷除尘而非用水清洗。
