将晶体转向光源，内部便化作一列紫罗兰色的阶梯。 深紫色的生长带自各个棱角向内层层推进，呈现尺规般笔直的阶地状线条，每一条都记录着昔日某个立方体晶面所在的位置；它们悬浮在通透得足以一眼望穿另一侧的晶体之中。 一层浅橄榄乳色的碳酸盐薄壳紧附在左侧，并在右缘再度出现。
这是以剖面而非轮廓呈现的幻影：一层又一层的紫色萤石，被后期无色生长层封存于内。 由于整件标本本质上是一颗大晶体而非晶簇，完整的生长史便清晰可读地收在同一颗晶体之中。 萤石具完全的八面体解理，一次重击便会从棱角崩下一枚三角形薄片，因此请从下方托住，切勿捏握棱边。
