这件晶簇上的每一颗立方体，内部都藏着一颗更早、更小立方体的紫罗兰色幽影。 外层萤石清澈如水，棱角处带轻微的阶梯状；幻影悬在中央，是一个边缘模糊的柔和紫色方块，整片标本上十余颗晶体各自拥有自己的内影。 整组晶体坐落在橄榄卡其色的晶簇壳上，晶体之间的每一道缝隙都被它填满。
幻影标示着一次停顿。 萤石先长成紫色，生长暂停的时间长到足以让一层杂质薄膜沉降在晶面上，随后无色萤石在同一晶格上重新开始，把旧有的表面封存于内。 位于湖南南部的钨矿瑶岗仙，正是这种「清透包裹紫色」晶习的中国经典产地，而少有矿物能如此坦率地记录自身的生长历程。
