一枚单晶石英，略带淡烟色、晶尖锐利，正面横过一道斜向的云母带：银白色的书页状叠层层层相扣、散开成玫瑰花结，增厚处呈橄榄灰，其间还夹着几片米黄色黏土，以及一小团白色的晶体结。 石英为半透明而非水清透明，晶尖各面之下有淡淡的絮状薄纱游移。
石英（SiO2）莫氏硬度 7，硬到足以不把日常取拿放在眼里，而且它沿着弯曲的贝壳状断口破裂，而非沿解理面。 云母则是这组搭档中脆弱的一方：它在莫氏 2 至 3 左右就能剥成富弹性的薄片，指甲从玫瑰花结上划过，就会把叶片整片掀起来。 托住石英，别碰那片银白，这份对比才留得住。
