A classic Alpine cleft locality
Cavradi, in the Tavetsch (Tujetsch) area of Graubünden, is one of the celebrated Swiss Alpine fissure localities, where clefts opened during Alpine metamorphism slowly grew crystals on their walls.
What collectors look for
Cavradi is best known for smoky quartz and the distinctive twisted, table-like "gwindel" quartz habit prized by Alpine collectors, often with chlorite, hematite, and titanite.
