綠色的螢石立方體在這件香花鋪晶簇上以交疊的階梯向上攀升，其中最寬大的一顆位於右側、頂面平坦，核心是薄荷般的淡綠，向外漸漸暈染成較深的邊緣。多數晶面並非玻璃般光亮，而是霧面的，帶著細密的蝕刻與階地紋理；灰白色的細小石英晶簇則填滿了立方體之間的溝槽，並覆蓋下方的母岩。
位於湖南的香花鋪，是中國礦物收藏者尋找綠色螢石時緊盯的產地之一，而這件標本正說明了原因。每顆立方體內部由淺到深的色帶是生長環帶：每一層的顏色，都取自該晶面生長當時所存在的流體。霧面則是後來才出現的，屬於生長停止之後、溶液化學性質改變所帶來的晚期蝕刻。螢石莫氏硬度 4，具完全的八面體解理，而那層蝕刻的表皮是標本與生俱來的原始面貌——不是應該拋磨去除的瑕疵。
尺寸 8.9 × 5.3 × 6.9 cm，重 460 g。每一張圖片拍的都是這一件晶簇，它可憑母岩底面自行穩放，無需支撐。
