關於此標本
一叢帶粉紅暈的重晶石晶刃自深色而閃亮的母岩上升起，每一片板狀晶體斜倚著下一片，像被側推散開的一副紙牌。粉色柔和均勻，在刃尖與透光的薄邊處轉暖成奶油色。右側另有一叢較小的扇形晶體以更低的角度張開，半埋在粒狀的岩基之中。
位於 Oumjrane 礦區的 Bou Nahas，正以這種生長在富硫化物岩石上的刃狀重晶石聞名，而底下深色的岩基，正是讓淺色晶體隔著半個房間仍舊醒目的原因。重晶石（BaSO4）莫氏硬度僅 3 至 3.5，卻沉得出奇，比重接近 4.5——這一特性正是舊時礦工稱它為「重晶石」的由來。薄刃的邊緣容易崩損，取拿時請握住母岩。
標本尺寸 4.8 × 5.1 × 3.6 cm，重 91 g，照片中以拇指與食指夾持以示比例。未配底座；這幾張照片拍的就是這一叢扇形晶體，別無他物。
