一列乳稻草色的柱體像柵欄般肩並肩橫過這件雲南標本，每一根都披著糖霜似的微晶外殼，看起來是柔和的細碎閃光，而不是玻璃般的銳利反射。奶油糖色的沁染沿著柱間的溝槽流下，越靠近底部越濃，最高的幾根尖塔則在頂緣劃破天際線。
自然硫在標本櫃裡是個異數：一種直接從火山與沉積環境中結晶出來的元素，屬斜方晶系，帶樹脂光澤，莫氏硬度僅 1.5 至 2.5。它對熱也很敏感——溫熱的手或發燙的展示燈都可能讓表面產生龜裂——所以請保持涼爽，少加把玩。這裡渾圓的晶簇狀外皮，記錄的是緩慢的堆積，而非向開放空間的自由生長。
