關於此標本
顏色就是這件瑤崗仙小標本的全部理由。在玻璃般的表面之下，螢石由近乎黑的靛青，經皇家紫羅蘭，過渡到上緣一抹冷冽的鋼藍，各色帶界線分明且彼此成角，因此把標本轉動幾度，主導的顏色便隨之改變。白色方解石以層疊的葉片覆蓋左側三分之一，不透明並泛著淡淡的珍珠光澤，與那一片通透形成對照。
那些平坦而明亮如鏡的平面是解理面，而非生長出的晶面——螢石沿四個八面體方向完全裂開，礦脈晶洞產出的材料往往解理面多於晶面。這在美感上毫無損失，因為正是這些解理面讓目光能深入色帶之中；但也確實意味著，這件標本經不起摔落在硬地上。
