水鋅礦，Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6，是一種次生的鋅碳酸鹽，形成於循環水侵蝕近地表原生鋅礦石之處——這也是它多以柔軟結殼、而非自形晶體出現的原因。它是可靠的紫外螢光礦物，常在短波紫外光下回以淡藍色的輝光。標籤提出天青石為可能的共生礦物；由於未經確認，我們只作標註而不作宣稱。莫氏硬度僅 2 至 2.5，相當柔軟：只能用乾刷，切勿接觸酸。
