關於此標本
把餘燼撒在新雪上，就是這片摩洛哥板狀標本的效果：乳白色的重晶石刃片邊接邊鋪滿整面，上頭點著僅一兩毫米大的釩鉛礦晶體，每一顆都是短胖的六方桶狀，鏡面般的晶面回擲出堅硬的橙紅色閃光。重晶石在邊緣轉暖為琥珀色的地方，紅色幾乎與之融為一體，然而板子一傾斜，紅色立刻回來。
釩鉛礦 Pb5(VO4)3Cl 是一種釩酸鉛，產於鉛礦床氧化帶的上部——釩來得很晚，在原生礦體就位很久之後，才由地下水帶入。它結晶為六方晶系，質地偏軟，莫氏硬度 2.5 至 3，因此請用軟刷除塵，並讓它遠離超音波清洗機。底下的重晶石刃片先生長，為釩鉛礦提供了落腳處。
