關於此標本
四顆湖南小晶體共用一個襯有泡棉的盒子，沒有兩顆的表現相同。左上是一顆紫羅蘭色螢石，坐落在細小無色刃狀晶體結成的殼上。右上是一顆淡藍紫色晶體，受光之處帶有更深的紫色斑塊。右側是一組乾淨的紫色立方晶體，沿著橄欖綠色被膜的母岩層層排開。前方則是一顆乳白、近乎無色、帶著極淡綠調的晶體。
這樣的套組適合放在研究架上，而不是陳列座上。並排比較時，可以看出同一個礦區內單一礦種的變化幅度有多大：立方體大小、顏色、母岩與表面狀態每顆都不同，而那顆淺色的更說明了，即使在同一個晶洞裡，紫色也不是常態。螢石為莫氏硬度 4，沿八面體方向完全解理，因此它們待在盒子裡會比散放在抽屜中更自在。
這批標本登記的尺寸為 2.8 × 2.0 × 2.3 cm，15 g。照片中的四件全數隨附，並裝在圖中的黑色附蓋展示盒內。
