關於此標本
一顆宛如凍結薰衣草水色澤的螢石晶體，停棲在深色錫石母岩的凸節上，顏色都聚在邊緣：肩部與右下角轉為紫羅蘭色，寬闊的晶面卻清澈近水。往裡看，隱約的內部細縫勾勒出一顆較小立方體的輪廓——那是後來的晶體包覆生長的早期晶體。右側有一顆顏色更深的紫色晶體自岩石中冒出，前方晶面上則點綴著黑色與赭色的細斑。
瑤崗仙的螢石很少一次不間斷地長成。化學條件改變、生長暫停、一層薄薄的雜質沉降下來，下一層再將它封住——這正是此地時常出現幻影輪廓的原因。螢石的化學式為 CaF2，莫氏硬度 4，沿四個八面體方向乾淨解理，因此撞到稜角是這顆晶體唯一無法原諒的事。
標本尺寸為 3.0 × 2.0 × 2.8 cm，重 20 g。照片拍的就是這顆晶體，別無其他；隨附時以黏土固定在圖中的透明壓克力座上。
