這顆埃龍戈晶體的上三分之一水清透明，是一支銳利的柱晶，一路上行至乾淨的晶尖，並在內部裂隙迎光之處拋出一道淡淡的虹彩。在那之下，晶體的性格完全改變：一種暗綠黑色的礦物被石英吞入其中，並在它下方的晶面上結殼，而第二枚較小的晶尖，則自那團深色物質中向側旁推出。
納米比亞中部的埃龍戈花崗岩滿布氣孔空腔，當地的石英往往是最後結晶的礦物，越過並環繞著早已鋪在晶洞內壁的深色礦物生長。這道順序在本件標本上清晰可讀：上方是澄澈的矽質，下方則封存著更早的深色內襯。石英的化學式為 SiO2，莫氏硬度 7，除了讓包裹體所在的區域避開硬物撞擊之外，無需特別照料。
