關於此標本
根部如蜜、尖端清澈：一組相互穿插的方解石晶體自一道黃鐵礦條帶向後傾斜，晶面明亮，光線聚集之處通體呈溫暖的琥珀色。黃鐵礦佔去了下半場的戲——一層細小的黃銅色晶體橫貫底部全寬，每一顆都拋出金屬般的閃光。
晚期方解石生長在早期硫化物之上，是湖南郴州礦區常見的序列，也使這件標本異常易讀：先有黃鐵礦，之後才由較冷的流體帶來碳酸鹽。這組合同時帶來兩點提醒。方解石摩氏硬度 3，沿三個方向解理，即使遇上稀酸也會溶解，因此請勿用醋，也勿用超音波清洗；黃鐵礦怕潮，請存放在乾燥處。
尺寸 4.3 × 3.0 × 3.8 cm、重 60 g，是一件小巧的迷你標本，附圖中的透明壓克力座。相機所見，即是包裝寄出之物。
