關於此標本
方解石止步之處，螢石顯出它的顏色：每一顆立方體通體呈淡紫丁香色，並在沿晶面延伸的色帶中加深為紫羅蘭，到稜角處再度轉濃。三顆大立方體在正面彼此錯開層疊，稜邊帶著細密的肋紋而非刀鋒般銳利，一叢白色的小方解石菱面體混著透明的葉狀晶體，填在它們之間的凹處，下方則是深綠色的母岩。
這樣的色帶是一本生長日記。隨著供給流體改變，螢石對稀土微量元素與晶格缺陷的吸收並不均勻，因此每一道紫羅蘭色帶都記錄著一次化學或溫度的變化，而其間較淡的區域則標示著較平靜的生長。湖南瑤崗仙的錫鎢礦脈產出這種柔和的淡紫至紫羅蘭色，而方解石則如同此處一般，在晶洞形成的後期才到來。
