關於此標本
這塊標本板上有兩種不同的螢石。中段是塊狀的灰紫色晶體，表面霧面而近乎帶塵，晶面呈階梯狀的八面體形，最大的約 3 cm。上方偏右則是第二組晶體：玻璃光澤、淺海綠色，半透明到能透過外層看見核心的淡紫。兩者之間的母岩是一層乳黃色、爆米花質感的晶簇，上面還孤零零地立著幾顆紫色晶體。
這樣的顏色轉換記錄著流體的改變：同一套 CaF2 晶格會隨著每一層生長時所含的微量元素與晶格缺陷而呈紫或呈綠，貴州的標本板常把兩個階段並列保留下來。這些晶體也不是單純的立方體——晶面朝八面體方向修飾，因此輪廓鈍而帶階梯。螢石硬度莫氏 4，並沿那些八面體面解理。
這是一塊份量厚實的陳列板，12.2 × 9.1 × 4.3 cm、480 g，照片以托在手中呈現比例，不附底座。拍攝時的樣貌，就是它送達時的樣貌。
