一側邊緣有黃銅色的黃鐵礦與一小片深色圍岩，為粉彩色調壓住重心，也標明這是一件老實的湖南郴州瑤崗仙礦晶洞標本。它的顏色比該礦著名的濃紫更為含蓄——而這正是它的吸引力所在：如此細膩的瑤崗仙柔色，出現的頻率遠低於深色料。
