望進最大的一枚立方體，晶體便展示了自己的來歷：一枚深紫羅蘭色的核心封在淡而近乎無色的外殼之中，兩者之間的界線畫得如同墨線一般乾淨。那就是幻影，而這件瑤崗仙晶簇上有數枚立方體都帶著一個。乳白色的白雲石菱面體與針尖般的金屬晶體是棲在螢石晶面之上，而非包裹於其中，下緣則覆著一層晚期螢石形成的細緻丁香紫晶霜。
幻影記錄的是一次中斷。螢石先行生長，供養它的流體改變了——不同的微量元素、不同的溫度——生長隨後在較淡的化學環境中重新開始，把先前的晶體形狀凍結在較新的晶體之內。以如此玻璃般的外觀而言，螢石算是柔軟，莫氏硬度 4，八面體解理完全，一旦碰撞便會乾淨俐落地帶走一個晶角；存放時請讓它遠離更硬的鄰居。
