是霜，不是拋光。這件小型瑤崗仙螢石的每一個晶面都已被溶蝕成霧面的細密條紋，因此整簇讀來是半透明而非玻璃般透亮——光線能穿過晶體，卻永遠不會回給你一道乾淨的反光。晶體以錯開的層次向上堆疊，整體近乎無色，僅一兩處晶角泛著淡淡的紫暈，底部還有一塊淺色母岩殘留緊咬其上。
這樣的溶蝕紋理來自礦床的最後一章：當流體轉為具腐蝕性，開始把自己先前沉澱的螢石重新溶解。立方體晶面不均勻地後退，留下階梯狀的凹陷，以及此處可見的細密平行刻痕。收藏者之所以尋覓這類溶蝕表面的標本，正因為它們記錄了那一次逆轉。螢石莫氏硬度 4，具完美的八面體解理；這件標本的清潔，一支軟毛刷之外別無所需。
緊湊的一簇，重 20 g，拍攝時倚靠在透明壓克力方塊上。圖片所示即為這件標本本身，而非同類範例。
