松石綠對螢石而言是罕見的色調，而這顆瑤崗仙晶體通體都帶著它——一種乾淨的藍綠色，在薄稜處轉淡，在核心處積得更深。晶面並不平整。每一面都以淺淺的階地向上攀升，數以百計的微小立方稜邊，各自比下一層退後半步，因此表面回饋的是細密的平行光線，而非單一的鏡面反光。
這種階梯狀正是螢石在供給流體流速較快時的生長方式：新的層次自稜角開始，在晶面尚未閉合之前便向內鋪展，留下每一次脈動的階梯紀錄。螢石（CaF2）莫氏硬度 4，具完全的八面體解理，因此敲到稜角會掀起一枚薄片，而非只是把它磨鈍。請存放在沒有更硬物件會滾來相碰之處。
