Über diese Stufe
Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine with mica and feldspar at 8.6 cm and 117 g; a cabinet piece. A plate covered in golden-yellow mica rosettes with small pale aquamarine crystals and white feldspar between them.
Glassy hexagonal prisms and a sea-blue tone define the aquamarine variety.
Mica forms pearly hexagonal books that catch the light between the other crystals. Feldspar forms the blocky, pale crystals that act as a stage for the more colourful minerals in a pegmatite pocket.
Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.
Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 7.8 × 8.6 × 3.6 cm (3.07 × 3.39 × 1.42 in) and 117 g (4.1 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
