Über diese Stufe
Frostblasser Beryll, kaum blau getönt, bildet diese kleine Gruppe aus Xuebaoding: mehrere Kristalle Fläche an Fläche verwachsen, ihre Endigungen gestuft und leicht mattiert, wo späteres Wachstum sie unterbrochen hat. Rückseitig und an den Flanken fächern Muskovit-Bücher in warmem Honigbraun auf wie aufgerissene Seiten, und dieses Bernsteinbraun gegen den fast farblosen Beryll macht den Reiz des Stücks aus.
Aquamarin ist die blaue Varietät des Berylls (Be3Al2Si6O18), und in den hoch gelegenen Lagerstätten von Xuebaoding in Sichuan wächst er in denselben Greisen-Hohlräumen wie Scheelit, Kassiterit und diese Glimmer-Bücher – der Muskovit ist kein Zaungast, sondern Teil desselben Geschehens. Beryll ist mit Mohs 7,5–8 hart; die empfindliche Stelle sind die Glimmerkanten, die beim Reiben Blättchen verlieren.
