Über diese Stufe
Schmal und aufrecht wie eine Kerzenflamme, wird diese Miniatur aus der Daye-Mine von einem einzelnen lanzenförmigen Calcit-Blatt gekrönt – blass strohgelb, durchscheinend, aus der Senkrechten gekippt – mit gerundeten Calcit-Knollen, die sich darunter entlang eines Rückgrats aus grauweißer Druse stapeln.
Daye in Hubei liefert Calcit in vielen Trachten, und die dünnen, spitz zulaufenden „Feder“-Blätter sind jene, auf die Sammler achten, weil sie das Licht an ihren Kanten entlangführen statt es flach zurückzuwerfen. Calcit (CaCO3) hat Mohshärte 3 mit drei vollkommenen Spaltbarkeiten, die sich in schiefen Winkeln treffen: Ein Sturz lässt ihn eher in Rhomboeder zerfallen als absplittern – heben Sie dieses Stück an der Basis an, niemals am Blatt. Auch Quarz hat Anteil an der Stufe: Er bildet das graue drusige Rückgrat, aus dem der Calcit gewachsen ist, und trübt einige der Kristallkerne.
Klein mit 5,8 × 3,0 × 2,3 cm und 40 g, mit Knetmasse auf einem klaren Acrylwürfel befestigt, der die Spitze senkrecht hält. Die Bilder zeigen ausschließlich diese Stufe, Würfel inbegriffen.
