Über diese Stufe
Zwei Farben teilen sich diese kleine Stufe aus Fujian: Die Würfel auf der linken Seite sind gesättigt violett, die auf der rechten kühl eisblau, und beide sind klar genug, um geradewegs hineinzublicken. In den größeren Kristallen wiederholt sich diese Grenze als kantiges Phantom – frühere Würfel, eingeschlossen in späteren, deren Kanten noch parallel zu den äußeren Flächen verlaufen. Entlang der Basis zieht eine dunkelgraue Matrixnaht, gesprenkelt mit metallischen Lichtpunkten.
Phantome dieser Art halten eine Pause fest. Fluorit, CaF2, wächst Lage um Lage aus abkühlender Lösung; verschiebt sich deren Chemie, verschieben sich mit ihr die farbgebenden Spurenelemente, und die Kristalloberfläche jenes Augenblicks überdauert als farbige Hülle im fertigen Stein. Für ein Schaustück ist Fluorit mit Mohs 4 weich und spaltet vollkommen nach vier Richtungen – heben Sie dieses Exemplar deshalb an der Matrix an und nicht an einem vorstehenden Würfel.
Die Stufe misst 5,5 × 3,4 × 4,6 cm und wiegt 120 g. Ein Sockel gehört nicht dazu; sämtliche Aufnahmen zeigen ausschließlich dieses Stück.
