Über diese Stufe
Ein breiter Fluorit-Kristall in der Farbe von Teicheis erhebt sich über eine khakifarbene Drusenbasis. Seine Oberflächen sind kein poliertes Glas, sondern fein angeätzt – eine rissige, zuckrige Haut, die das Licht streut und den Kristall leuchtend statt durchsichtig macht. Wo diese Haut links unten dünner wird, blickt man geradewegs in das blassblaugrüne Innere.
Geätzter Fluorit dieser Art entsteht, wenn späte, leicht saure Lösungen über bereits gewachsene Kristalle zurückfluten und die äußeren Flächen ungleichmäßig anlösen. Sammler lieben das weich gewordene, mattierte Ergebnis entweder, oder sie wollen ihre Würfel rasiermesserscharf; viel Mittelweg gibt es nicht. Die Art ist CaF2, Mohs 4, mit vollkommener Spaltbarkeit in allen vier oktaedrischen Richtungen – setzen Sie einen solchen Kristall nie durch Druck auf eine Fläche fest.
