Über diese Stufe
Ein Fluorit-Würfel, aufsitzend auf einer Kruste weißer Druse, zeigt ein grünes Herz, gerahmt von einem violetten Saum, der jeder Kante des Kristalls folgt wie ein Passepartout um ein Bild. Die Flächen sind leicht mattiert, verschleiert von demselben zuckrig weißen Überzug, der auch die Matrix bedeckt, sodass die Farbe durch einen weichen Dunst statt durch Glas hindurch erscheint.
Kantenbetonte Farbe dieser Art ist bei Fluorit aus Yaogangxian häufig: Die Chemie änderte sich zwischen dem Inneren und der zuletzt gebildeten Schale, und die Kanten und Ecken – wo Flächen zusammenstoßen und sich Material am schnellsten anlagert – nahmen das tiefste Violett auf. Der weiße Belag über dem Würfel ist eine spätere Generation feiner Kristalle, keine Beschädigung der Oberfläche. Bei Mohshärte 4 und vollkommener oktaedrischer Spaltbarkeit sind eben diese Ecken die verwundbaren Stellen.
