Über diese Stufe
Schwarze Baryt-Klingen kreuzen sich in jedem Winkel, dünn wie Schieferplättchen und hier und da cremeweiß gesäumt, und über das ganze Gewirr ist Vanadinit gestreut: Hunderte winziger bernstein- bis olivgoldener Kristalle, die das Licht auffangen wie Raureif auf Holzkohle. Dreht man das Stück, zeigt der Baryt den weichen Perlmuttschimmer, den er über Spaltflächen entwickelt.
Vanadinit (Pb5(VO4)3Cl) ist ein Blei-Vanadat, das in den oxidierten oberen Bereichen von Bleilagerstätten kristallisiert, und Marokko ist seit Langem die klassische Quelle für seine Aufwachsung auf Baryt. Mit Mohs 2,5–3 ist es sehr weich, das Funkeln sollte deshalb nie einen Pinsel zu sehen bekommen. Baryt ist kaum härter, für ein nichtmetallisches Mineral aber ungewöhnlich dicht – darum wiegt das Stück mehr, als es aussieht.
Über die Schaufläche misst es 4,6 x 3,8 cm, in der Tiefe 1,8 cm, bei 26 g, mit Klebeknete auf dem abgebildeten klaren Acrylwürfel montiert. Auf den Bildern sehen Sie das Stück, das Sie erhalten, den Würfel inbegriffen.
