Über diese Stufe
Die Basis dieser indischen Stufe ist eine Kruste aus messingfarbenem Pyrit, deren Oberflächen einen ölschillernden Anlauf angenommen haben: Gold, das je nach Blickwinkel in Grün und Bronze übergeht. Aus diesem Bett wachsen farblose Quarzkristalle – zwei lange, gut ausgebildete Spitzen, die nach oben und hinten greifen, dazwischen eine niedrige, glasglänzende Kuppel, und an den Flanken fächern Büschel feinerer Nadeln auf.
Der Regenbogen auf dem Pyrit (FeS2) wurde von niemandem aufgetragen. Es handelt sich um einen äußerst dünnen Oxidationsfilm auf den Kristallflächen, der weißes Licht zerlegt, ähnlich wie es eine Seifenblase tut. Dieser Film ist der empfindliche Teil der Stufe: Wischen, Polieren oder feuchtes Reinigen nimmt ihn sofort mit. Halten Sie das Stück trocken und verwenden Sie ausschließlich einen weichen Pinsel. Der Quarz verlangt mit Mohs 7 nichts dergleichen.
Sie misst 6,9 × 4,9 × 3,4 cm und wiegt 105 g, präsentiert auf dem abgebildeten klaren Acrylständer. Alle Fotografien zeigen dieses eine Stück, kein stellvertretendes Muster.
