Über diese Stufe
Ein Keil violettschwarzen Fluorits sitzt auf der Krone dieses milchweißen Quarzblocks, seine Flächen in flachen Terrassen zurückgestuft, die eine Reihe nach der anderen aufleuchten. Wo eine verheilte Trennfläche den Kristall durchzieht, wirft sie ein schmales Band aus Spektralfarben, von Rosa bis Grün, quer über das Violett. Ein zweiter, blasserer Fluoritzug kriecht die rechte Flanke hinab, bestäubt mit braunen Glimmerblättchen und etwas rostoranger Eisenverfärbung.
Weißer Quarz und gesättigt violetter Fluorit sind eine Leitpaarung in den hydrothermalen Gängen Hunans: Zuerst baut sich der Quarz als grobe milchige Masse auf, dann kristallisiert der Fluorit in die verbliebenen Hohlräume und bezieht seine Farbe aus Defekten im CaF2-Gitter. So tiefes Violett wird im Kern meist nahezu undurchsichtig, während die Kanten glasig bleiben – genau wie hier.
5,1 × 2,5 × 4,6 cm und 50 g, klein genug, um die Hand darum zu schließen. Für die Aufnahmen wurden weder Ständer noch Sockel verwendet; die Bilder halten dieses eine Stück so fest, wie es versandt wird.
