Über diese Stufe
Die Schauseite dieser Guizhou-Platte liest sich tatsächlich wie ein gescannter Code. Fluorit-Würfel stoßen über zehn Zentimeter Breite Kante an Kante, jeder von ihnen ein gestufter Stapel quadratischer Wachstumsplatten, und die Farbe verteilt sich ungleichmäßig – tintenviolette Blöcke neben blass lilafarbenen, dazu mattweiße Kristalle im oberen rechten Bereich und hell lohfarbene Matrix entlang der Unterkante.
Dieses Mosaik ist ein Protokoll des Kristallwachstums. Jede neue Lage CaF2 breitete sich über die Fläche aus und blieb dabei ein wenig hinter der darunterliegenden zurück, sodass eine Terrasse entstand; und weil das Violett mit einigen dieser Lagen mitkam und mit der nächsten nicht, wechseln die Terrassen zwischen Tintendunkel und Wasserklar. Das Ergebnis ist ein Schachbrettmuster statt einer gleichmäßig violetten Fläche.
Sie misst 10,2 × 6,4 × 3,8 cm und wiegt 280 g, ein bequem einhändig zu haltendes Schaustück, hier ohne Ständer gezeigt. Sie kaufen die Platte auf den Fotos, kein ähnliches Stück aus derselben Kluft.
