Über diese Stufe
Aufrecht gestellt ist dies ein einzelnes Blatt von gut fünf Zentimetern Höhe: flaschengrün dort, wo das Licht durch die Kristallmitte tritt, an den dickeren Rändern fast schwarz und an einer Seite in ein Bündel silbriger Fasern aufgespalten, die das Licht wie gebürsteter Stahl fangen. Nahe der Oberkante haften zwei kleine ockerfarbene Krümel. Im Gegenlicht glüht der grüne Kern; bei flachem Licht wirkt das Blatt nahezu schwarz.
Dieses silbrige Ausfransen ist Vivianit, wie Vivianit nun einmal ist. Es handelt sich um ein wasserhaltiges Eisenphosphat mit einer vollkommenen Spaltrichtung und einer Härte von nur etwa 2, sodass das Blatt schon unter geringstem Druck in biegsame Lamellen zerfällt. Frisch gefördertes Material kann nahezu farblos sein und dunkelt nach, während sein Eisen im Licht oxidiert – halten Sie dieses Stück aus der direkten Sonne und von warmen Lampen fern, wenn die jetzige Farbe erhalten bleiben soll.
Das Blatt misst 5,6 × 1,5 × 1,0 cm und wiegt 10 g. Es kommt aufrecht auf dem klaren Acrylblock der Fotos montiert, mit weißer Klebeknete verankert. Dies ist der fotografierte Kristall, kein Ersatzstück.
