Guangdong red-fluorescing calcite with quartz at 209 g; a cabinet piece for the UV collector.
Calcite is the most shape-shifting of common minerals: over 800 crystal forms have been described, and Chinese localities produce many of the best.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Guangdong is the source of the red hematoid quartz and green phantom quartz that reached collectors after 2015.
By size it is cabinet, 8.1 × 8 × 5.3 cm (3.19 × 3.15 × 2.09 in) and 209 g (7.4 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
