Sobre este espécimen
El azul y el púrpura se reparten a manchas esta gran fluorita de Yaogangxian: ventanas de azul lavanda que se abren entre caras cúbicas de bordes violeta, con toda la superficie suavemente grabada hasta un acabado satinado que difunde la luz en lugar de destellar. Unas inclusiones minerales ocres atrapadas entre los cristales añaden una vena cálida a la paleta fría.
Con 930 g y casi 12 cm de anchura, esta es una pieza para sostener con las dos manos, y la textura grabada le da un carácter completamente distinto del material vítreo: más cerca del cristal de mar que de un espejo, con un color que parece iluminado desde dentro.
Mide 11,9 × 7,4 × 8,9 cm y se monta sobre el soporte metálico de garra que se muestra. De la mina Yaogangxian, Chenzhou, Hunan. Las fotografías muestran el ejemplar exacto.
