Zhejiang purple octahedral fluorite with quartz at 12.8 cm and 270 g; a large cabinet plate with full coverage.
Chinese fluorite has become a staple of modern collections for its sharp crystal faces, strong colour and a lustre that reads well from across the room.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Zhejiang's Jiangshan and Qingtian districts are known for babingtonite, prehnite, fluorite and quartz from volcanic-hosted veins.
