Sobre este espécimen
Una sombra violeta se remansa en el fondo del mayor de los dos cubos vítreos de fluorita lila que cabalgan sobre el hombro izquierdo de esta pieza de Yaogangxian; el menor se apoya contra él en ángulo, casi transparente allí donde la luz atraviesa su canto. Todo lo que hay debajo es una costra rugosa de mica lila pálida, granular como el azúcar grueso, con algunas agujas incoloras y alguna que otra miga broncínea de pirita atrapada en los huecos.
Las labores de wolframio de Yaogangxian son más conocidas por su fluorita, pero es la alfombra de mica lavanda la que da a placas como esta su fondo: vidrio sobre terciopelo antes que cristal sobre roca desnuda. La fluorita se lee vítrea, nunca metálica, y con dureza 4 en la escala de Mohs y exfoliación octaédrica perfecta, un golpe en la esquina expuesta de un cubo se lleva una lasca limpia.
5,8 × 5,1 × 3,6 cm y 105 g, sin montar y fotografiada en la palma abierta. El ejemplar que recibirá es el de estas imágenes.
